Senate President, Bukola Saraki has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, to work together in peace and harmony so as to defend the country’s democracy which most people believe is no longer seen as a democratic setting. This according to him should be aimed at providing good governance for Nigerians.
Saraki stated this at the 81st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the PDP. He used the opportunity to stress on the need of inclusiveness, justice, equity, and sacrifice so as to ensure that Nigerians feel the impact of the party in preparations for the 2019 general elections.
The visibly elated Senator went further to state he was happy to be back in the party where he started his political sojourn. He could not hide his joy as he commends colleagues who he believed gave him faith and opened his eyes to see that there are still people of character. “according to him “many of you have made and are always ready to make a sacrifice for this great nation, because you all want a better tomorrow. Now that this day has come, we have been brought together in unity and we will forge ahead as one”.
Saraki also admonished the PDP’s leadership to acknowledge the contributions of every member of the party, regardless of who they are or where they stand. In his words. “What we have learned from history, and what we have continued to see, is that everyone is important on this journey that we embarking, and no sacrifice is too much for us to make to reach that promised land.
“However, we will only reach that promised land when we see a greater tomorrow for our people, and for all Nigerians. Therefore, I want to make an appeal on behalf of all of us, when we get back to our constituencies, please, let us continue to open our arms and receive the people who have the numbers that will give us victory come February 2019.
This is because we are all here to work towards a better and greater tomorrow on behalf of all Nigerians”.
While thanking the leadership of the party for opening their hands wide to receive him and others who deemed it fit to come back to the party where he believes they truly belonged, Saraki assured the PDP that they will work tirelessly to do what is right to put Nigeria back in the right situation.
